Types of J-1 Visa and Eligibility

We offer a number of different J-1 Visa Programs:
  • J-1 Internship Program: must be currently enrolled in or within 12 months of  graduation from a  foreign post-secondary academic institution (college or university) and prepared to train in a field related to your academic studies. You may seek placement services through Pan Atlantic or find your own position, but you must have an offer letter in hand before we can start the visa process.
  • J-1 Professional Training Program (up to 12 months for hospitality, up to 18 months for all other occupational categories): to qualify  you must have an academic degree/certificate and  one year of related professional experience in the field in which you wish to train, OR (if you  do not have an academic degree), you may qualify for the program with five years of professional experience in the field in which you wish to train. You may seek placement services through Pan Atlantic or find your own position, but you must have an offer letter in hand before we can start the visa process.
  • J-1 Research Scholar Program:  Research Scholars promote the exchange of ideas and linkages between research and educational institutions in the United States and foreign countries. This program provides the opportunity to engage in research, teaching and lecturing with American colleagues and to participate actively in cross-cultural activities with Americans.  Applicants must have an offer letter from the institution where they plan to participate in program activities.
