Social Security |
You will need to apply for a Social Security Card once you arrive in the United States. Your host company needs your Social Security Number for payroll purposes. More information about applying for a social security number can be found here.

Taxes |
As wage earners, J-1 intern/trainees are required to pay Federal, State and Local income taxes but most are J-1 visa holders are exempt from paying social security and medicare taxes. Your host company will automatically deduct the appropriate taxes from your paycheck.

Insurance |
Pan Atlantic ensures that all program participants have health insurance that meets the requirements set out by The United States Department of State. Your policy details and insurance card are sent via email upon arrival to the US. To access your insurance information online please create/login to your MY INSURANCE account.

Intern/Trainee Responsibilities |
As a J-1 program participant we expect that you will conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times during training and outside of your training. You are required to be responsive to any inquiries from Pan Atlantic, report any changes to your email, phone number or address to us within 10 days of making the change, and represent the J-1 program with integrity.
