As your program comes to an end, it’s important to understand your obligations and responsibilities as a J-1 Visa holder.

Grace/Travel Period

Upon successful program-completion, participants are eligible for a 30-day grace period, allowing for:
  • Participation in cultural events
  • Domestic travel (within the U.S.)
  • ​Departure-preparation

Travel After Completion

  • Travel within the states is permitted during the grace-period
  • Re-entry to the U.S. is generally not permitted

U.S. Departure

Participants are expected to return to their home country after completing the program. Failure to do so is considered a violation of the J-1 Visa's terms.
